festive decorations.

At least once every year, my mum will most defiantly get my brother, sister and i to collaborate and make a few nice new decorations for our Christmas tree. We normally have a big old real Christmas tree filled with beautiful decorations my grandma left in her house for us after she passed away in our living room. In the kitchen mum always likes to put up a fake tree we've had for god knows how long and completely cover it in handmade decorations and tacky tinsel. For me, the moment that ancient plastic tree comes out of its box, Christmas time really begins.
I made this when i was about 5 with my dad, i don't remember how exactly. It hangs on the living room tree because i gave it to my mum one Christmas and its her favourite. my sister made a fairy and she has kept it hanging off her bed since the day it was made.
The joy of waking up on Christmas morning to see all your gifts under the tree with your own decorations looking down on you, the ones that have seen you through every single Christmas, the ones that you love and cant wait to put on the tree, suddenly makes it all worthwhile and 100% more special to you.

Whilst Christmas is all very exciting, giving and receiving gifts, spending time with your loved ones and cramming yourself to the brim with food; Its very easy to get swept away in a big sea of wrapping paper and Christmas dinner. Please don't forget the reason we celebrate Christmas and don't forget about those who wont get to celebrate it at all. Just in-case i don't see you lovely lot until after the occasion, i hope you all have a very very merry Christmas!
